KSU Soccer Complex and Football Practice Fields

Project Highlights

  • Project completed one week ahead of schedule and under budget.

Project Overview

Wildcat crews worked with Mid-America Golf to complete the new KSU Soccer Complex and football practice fields, which are replacing the old football practice fields. Wildcat’s scope of work consisted of approx. 4,000 CY of top soil stripping and excavation to be wasted offsite and approx. 4,000 CY of onsite balance grading. Wildcat crews also removed some of the old storm sewer system to make way for the new, which included 2,200 LF of 12” HDPE and 14 Inlet/MH structures that made up the perimeter drainage system that the new field drainage will tie to. Other work included adjustment/modification of three existing storm sewer manholes and removal of concrete foundations for the old video filming tower. The project ended up being more challenging because Manhattan received a record 5” of rainfall in 24 hours after we removed the existing grass and topsoil. Luckily, the existing soils onsite were sandy and made for easier drainage. Even with the challenges, the project was completed one week ahead of schedule and under the estimated budget.
