Project Overview

I-35 Bridge Demolition over Abandoned Railroad, near Blackwell, OK

The scope of this project was to eliminate two structurally deficient bridges on Interstate I-35. One bridge was in the northbound lanes and its side-by-side “twin” was in the southbound lanes. The bridges crossed over a long abandoned railroad alignment. Instead of replacing the aging bridges, the gap below the bridges was filled with dirt up to the level of the existing roadway subgrade and new pavement was constructed through the area that the bridges once spanned.
